First Baptist Church is intentional in its Children's
Ministry. Our goal is to provide well rounded ministry for children
through grade 5. For a number of years we have hired a Summer Mission's
Associate with Children. The work of this position has truly blessed our
church with a vibrant ministry with children. Here are a few areas of
interest in the Children's Ministry:
Recreation - Each year First Baptist Church tries
to create some fun activities that will bring some recreational excitement
to the ministry. Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Party, Movies, Pool party,
Summer splashes, Cookouts, Putt Putt, Bowling, Historical tours, etc. are
a few of the activities that we plan on a routine basis. In addition to
these activities we will be sponsoring a sports camp in the summer of
2003. This is an opportunity children who love sports to learn new skills
as well as learn about God in an athletic setting. All the outings at
First Baptist Church are well chaperoned and lots of fun.
Bible Study and Missions - Every year First Baptist
Church provides Vacation Bible School for Children (Ages 3-Grade 5) in the
church and the community. The curriculum is action based with a variety of
fun activities for children. Also, there is a mission's motif that allows
the children to participate in a community or world mission's project. In
the past they have participated in missions like "goody bags"
for public officials, Operation Christmas Child, Operation Kid to Kid,
care kits to the homeless, etc. Missions' efforts have been made in the
community for Backyard Bible Clubs, Summer Tuesday Kid's Club Tuesday (Age
5-Grade 5), Kid's Club Spring Edition (grades 2-5) and Parents Morning Out
(ages 3-5).
